Rachel Ou - A young researcher, athlete, and artist

Rachel Ou is a student researcher, athlete, and artist based in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
Rachel is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Biology, with minors in Chemistry, Design, and Science, Technology, and Society. An aspiring physician, she hopes to contribute to advancing humanity through scientific breakthroughs and pushing for health equity. At Penn, Rachel researches antibody-conjugated lipid nanoparticles in the Tsourkas Lab, and is a patient navigator for the Center for Surgical Health at Penn Medicine, where she helps uninsured patients navigate the peri-operative continuum. She has been a competitive table tennis player for 11 years and currently serves as the captain of Penn Table Tennis, and president of Penn Chinese Calligraphy, where she spreads her passion for Chinese art with the Philadelphia community through exhibitions and wedding commissions. Interested in cross-cultural exchange, community-building, and healthcare, Rachel plans to promote biotechnology collaboration across borders as a physician and push for healthcare equity and reform.
